Draft of the Standards of Operation Manual for stables is now closed for public commentary

The draft was available to be viewed and submissions made at http://bit.ly/1bkKKBd until March 5th, 2014. We appreciate your feedback and thank everyone for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. All stable owners, operators and managers as well as stable staff and clients were asked to provide input to ensure that this manual reflects a collective understanding of an equine facility's expectations and recommended practices in Alberta. Everyone was encouraged to provide comments and suggestions about the manual and all submissions were made through the online system.

This valuable manual is being developed for all stable owners and operators alike. Two public forums were held in fall of 2013 to discuss the content for this manual in Edmonton at Farmfair International as well as at Spruce Meadows in Calgary. These public consultation periods have helped guide the direction of this manual and helped to generate the content needed for inclusion. Anticipated date of completion is May of 2014.
